A LITTLE WESTERN SPIRIT, A LOT OF GOOD COMPANY
The sun is low, the glasses are cold, and the last chair is being pulled up to the table. There’s time for a game before dinner. Perhaps two.
Yeehaw brings a little of that easygoing spirit to mahjong, with warm colors, familiar Western characters, and something different to notice in every hand. A horseshoe here. A little cactus there. This collection has quite a few stories tucked into its tiles.
WARM COLORS, PLENTY OF CHARACTER
Creamy white faces meet golden yellow edges and rich chocolate brown backs. The combination has the warmth of worn leather and a well-loved wooden table, with little flashes of red, blue, and green keeping things lively.
Turn the tiles over and you’ll find a cowboy hat above a sheriff-style star, outlined in gold. Even a neatly stacked wall has a little Western personality.
DOTS WITH A LITTLE SWAGGER
The Dot suit dresses up its circles with stars, longhorn silhouettes, and decorative borders. Some have the look of small gold medallions; others bring a bright touch of red or blue to the table.
Look across a whole row and the repeated shapes become a pattern of their own. There’s plenty to admire while you’re deciding what to keep.
TAKE THE SCENIC ROUTE
Little green cacti take their places in the Bam suit, while the 1 Bam arrives with an eagle spreading its wings above a red, white, and blue shield.
The Winds carry the scenery a little farther, with red rock formations, a bright desert sun, and a longhorn skull beneath the colorful letters. A small change of direction, and another view to enjoy.
A HORSESHOE IN YOUR HAND
On the Craks, curved golden horseshoes frame red Chinese numerals. Fine decorative flourishes give the familiar suit a playful finishing touch.
It’s a lovely little pairing: the rhythm of traditional mahjong lettering, dressed for an entirely different kind of evening.
MEET THE REST OF THE COMPANY
Covered wagons, cowboy spurs, campfires, wagon wheels, and glowing lantern illustrations fill out the collection’s Western world. Each feels like a tiny picture waiting to be spotted between turns.
The Joker makes a particularly bold entrance, with an illustrated golden revolver, a row of cartridges, and red lettering. There’s a theatrical quality to it, like a detail from an old Western poster finding its way into the game.
LET THE EVENING FIND ITS OWN PACE
Bring Yeehaw out when friends have dropped by, the snacks are on the table, and nobody is watching the clock too closely.
Let the ice clink in the glasses. Pass the bowl around. Someone is bound to have a story to tell between hands.
And if dinner runs a little late, you’ll have good company while you wait.
