Chain Stitch Tutorial – Start Your Crochet Journey
Last time we learned how to start a crochet project with a slip knot.
Today, let us continue our crochet journey with the chain stitch.
The chain stitch is a basic stitch in crochet. It is always referred to as ‘Ch’ or ‘CH’. When you see ‘Ch’ in a diagram, it refers to the chain stitch. Once you know how to use the chain stitch, you can try to complete a crochet project (I will show you a diagram at the end of the article that only use ‘Ch’).
How to Make a Chain Stitch
- We need to make a slip knot ( you can find the tutorial here ).
- Put the hook under the left side of the yarn
- Wrap the yarn in your hand counterclockwise
- Use the hook to pull the thread out of the loop to complete a chain stitch (the first chain stitch)
Great! You are done!
Now try making this butterfly! It uses only ‘Ch’ for crochet!
